The Asian Century is upon us .If current demographic and economic trends persist; the 21st century will be dominated by Asian politics and culture. The Asia Pacific poker tour is one such manifestation which is proving this trend right. Prior to its first edition in 2007, Asia never had poker tours which could rival the WSOPs, WPTs and EPTs of the world. Majority of Asian poker pros and other poker enthusiast either had to travel to the west or had to be content with online poker tournaments to be part of the global poker action.

The AAPT may well have been the last link which made Poker a truly a global sport. Season one (APPT 2007) started off in Manila in the Philippines and ended at the Star City Casino in Sydney. This was subsequently followed by season 2 and the third season will be held sometime in august 2009 and is also set to visit Seoul, Auckland, Philippines and Sydney.
